1oz Silver Lunar Year of the Horse - Mule error version
The Royal Mint launched a series of Lunar coins in 2014, fusing ancient Chinese tradition with British craftsmanship. The first coin of the Shengxiao Collection produced by The Royal Mint is the 2014 Lunar Year of the Horse.
The “Mule” is a rare version of the coin which was struck using an incorrect die, marrying the obverse of the Silver Lunar with the reverse of the Silver Britannia. This coin is packaged in a wooden box and is still in the original Royal Mint blister packaging.
This coin features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank-Broadley on its obverse and Wuon-Gean Ho’s design of the Horse on its reverse; her first design for The Royal Mint.
